We usually strive to have an overall good look when we step out to play or work. Now isn’t that just being a conformist, a basic good look with no one to really impress. What if I told you that you could be an all star down the avenue and have anyone compliment you on how good you look?
It mostly depends on key items that we add to an overall look. Some of us have a special talent but others can acquire the ability to look good without any effort. Shoes are always hands down an accessory that transforms any outfit. Just give it a simple try.
Given the season fads come and go with some leaving a little something behind. Maybe your personal style is not all that funky but we can fix that right away. Just add on a really funky heel or flat that’s so in you will be remembered by it. This time it’s no so much about the shoe but more about the sole. White sole shoes are so back that not even being on the cast of Clueless would make you feel more fashionable.
All sorts of fashion bloggers are infusing their ensembles with this sort of style and giving it the funkiness that sometimes we may lack. Below are some examples on how you can wear them and some styles available for sale. Don’t go over to the boring side on 2015, just take the leap and be fearless.
Last night the annual Teen Choice Awards took place in sunny California. This is one of my favorite award shows just because of the fun ensembles that the starlets wear. Obviously other high end awards like the Oscars and Emmy’s are great but too serious. Furthermore, the TCA let’s everyone dress up playfully, which makes the outfits more attainable for us the fans to wear. It includes all the young celebrities that are constantly fighting off each other (figuratively) to be the best dressed of the week on and off big Hollywood events.
To honor the last days of summer most starts wore crop tops which were the hit of the night. My favorites which include Chloe Moretz and Taylor Swift rocked the look in a way that will make you want to buy they’re outfits right away. I mean who doesn’t want to look like Tay-Tay during next Sunday fabulous brunch? Moreover, messy side braids were hitting it big on the red carpet. The hairdo made them look effortlessly flawless and complimented perfectly the whole look. The outfits seen on them looked like they all previously agreed to wear the same trend as a statement.
There were two outfits that just made me go oh-la-la and gag for more. Both of them were matching crop tops and pants (duh!). First runner up is Ms. Moretz with a stunning matching ensemble from Valentino. The red, black and white printed outfit is just breathtaking aside from the perfection that this girl is. She looked impeccable and topped it off with a red single sole sandal that will make you fall in love. Then there’s Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev who’s been giving the fashion industry lots to talk about with her sense of fashion. With a Vionnet matching outfit that went just perfectly with the pink pumps she wore giving the ensemble that extra girly twist.
I guess we all feel like we should work on our abs and go shopping for some crop tops and shorts don’t you think?
Fashion is all about taking risks and finding a way to implement trends into your personal style. Most of us tend to rely on our safe zone. What do I mean by this? Most of the people wait until a trend has gone almost into the masses to implement it when we should really be fashion innovators or opinion leaders when it comes to a trend. This takes us to the latest fashion ititem: the leopard print sneaker.
Animal print has always been a classic look for as long as I can remember. Everyone has a different opinion on how to wear it so that it looks classy and fashionable. I personally love it and think it looks good as an accessory. It gives any ensemble a certain edge that makes you look fierce and sexy. When you mix this type of pattern with a very cool sneaker you get the ultimate fashion shoe.
Fashion bloggers and celebrities from Michelle Williams to Usher are sporting this edgy look on their day-to-day style. You can wear them with totally different styles from a very relaxed look with distressed jeans to a wild leather skirt or even a preppy look with a khaki skinny pant and a fitted blazer. If you still can’t seem to find yourself wearing this trend look at these photographs on how to style yourself and believe me you will be getting them on your next trip to the mall.
If you’re like me and you love having the latest in footwear trends, you need some gladiators. I personally prefer them in brown. This “look” is perfect for showing off slender legs. For those of you who are wondering, or do not dare to wear this trend, here I give you a few tricks on how to use it properly. You have several options for making it a complete look:
* The “casual chic” look – You can achieve this look using a pair of loose high waisted shorts. As the gladiators are adjusted to your legs, use a crop top.
* The “glam style” look – This style is the one I focus on, a more elegant look. Use a short asymmetrical skirt in a solid color, combine it with a print top and add your favorite accessories. In this occasion I wore one of my “fedora hats”.
Music’s biggest night was all about the shimmer, glitter and metallics. The artists took the best they had (aside from being amazing performers) to the red carpet on a night that’s about dressing to impress. Bringing they’re A game, top celebrities competed to receive the title of best dressed. Most of them did an amazing job and designers did not fail to impress.
Clever as always Katy Perry had the most creative and amazing dress. I saw this dress last week while peeking at the Spring 2014 couture shows and instantly thought it had something different and edgy about it. Other than that I also thought only someone sharp and out there could pull it off, whom better than Miss. Perry. The Valentino couture gown inspired by Verdi’s La Traviata had 1,600 hours worth of work done only on its embroidery. This was absolutely the perfect dress to wear at the Grammy’s.
Glowing, Ciara made an amazing entrance in an all gold Pucci gown. The soon to be mommy wore her baby bump revealing she’s expecting yet looking flawless and beautiful as ever. I got really impressed by John Legend’s wife supermodel Chrissy Teigen. She looked beautiful and super sexy in a gold ensemble and a V plunging neckline, she definitely made an impact as more than the wife of this amazing artist. Last but not least the hated and loved Taylor Swift. In my opinion she looked like the perfect Barbie doll. Her Gucci chain dress was just absolute perfection. She may get criticized for they way she makes music or her attitude but there is nothing bad to say about this look. She was enviable by every single girl.
All around, they went all out, creating the ambience of glamour and stardom.
This past Saturday we celebrated the 20th annual Screen Actor Guild Awards otherwise known as the SAG Awards. The main theme for this article is evidently the fashion on the carpet but on top of that I want to address something else. I think A-listers as we call them get glorified with the outfits and some of the may we say “smaller” stars (here comes the term B-lister) don’t get that much credit for the effort they also make. To the point – I selected my favorite styles no matter the origin and based solely on my fashion likes and dislikes.
The last will be first right? So let’s talk about Emma Thompson’s catastrophic fashion fail. The top of the dress may look like a cute shirt but what is up with the skirt, is that on purpose? Not all vintage looks good honey. Furthermore, she wore flats, yes you read correctly flats they were Christian Louboutin non the less but still it doesn’t matter if the sole was red or not they are still flats. She is completely fined by this administration as the worst dressed at the show and I like her so much!
Now let’s talk shimmer and glitter! Sandra Bullock had a gorgeous simple emerald green Lanvin dress. Less is more on most occasions and she simply glowed. Following up is the sassy Sofia Vergara in an all silver Donna Karan Atelier ensemble. I absolutely adore the dress and agree that this look is her signature but I would love seeing her stepping out of her comfort zone. Claire Danes is not someone I look for on the red carpet (B-lister alert!) but I have to admit I was impressed. She had a Vionnet dress that looked so feminine and delicate. The sheer, the glitter, the lightness of the fabric made her look effortlessly flawless. Also the Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco looked ultra pretty in a Very Wang dress that had that old Hollywood glam to it.
Drum Roll Please! Now my all time favorite and breathtaking look of the night. This girl has come this year and from the look of it she is making people talk and not going anywhere. Lupita Nyong’o dazzled her way in a turquoise Gucci dress that has no way of describing it other than pure fashion perfection. This girl is pushing all sorts of boundaries in the fashion industry. I cannot wait to see more of her this upcoming year. She is starting to become one of my personal favorites.
In a nutshell these were the best and a little bit of the worst for the night. Can anyone say Grammys?
